How To Give Your Home’s Small Room A Cozy Feeling

Do you have a small or oddly sized room in your house that you don’t know what to do with? Just because a room is small doesn’t mean it can’t be useful or even extremely cozy and comfortable. We’re here to show you how you can transform the smallest room in your house into the coziest one.

Give The Room A Purpose

It can be very easy for a small room to become a wasted space, usually filled with old furniture and used as a glorified storeroom. Giving your small room a specific purpose can help you make the most of the space.

You can use a small room as an office, a reading room, a TV room, a nursery, and much more. Pick a purpose for it, and then you can move on to making it cozy and comfortable.

Go For Dark And Monochrome

Most people think that when small spaces are painted and styled in light colors, it can make the space seem larger. This is not always true. Don’t let your small room discourage you from going for a dramatic and dark color theme. Monochrome colors can also help tie the room together and make it even cozier. If you’re feeling extra bold, consider painting the ceiling a dark color as well.

Add A Touch Of Light

Don’t underestimate the importance of contrast! If you’re going for an overall dark theme in your small room, you can brighten up the space with a touch of light. This can be from an actual light source, such as a window if you have one, or a lamp or candles. If you don’t have a natural light source or want to keep the light to a minimum, add some contrast with a lighter-colored rug or painting.

Fabrics And Linens Are Your Friends

The best way to make any space, and especially a small room, feel cozy, warm, and super comfortable is by playing around with and incorporating lots of fabrics and linens into it. A velvet sofa, lots of shaggy rugs, carpet, throw pillows, quilts, and heavy drapes are all examples of how to use different fabrics and linens in your room.

Avoid Overcrowding

A small room can very easily cross the line from cozy to claustrophobic if there’s too much going on in there. Stick to just a few pieces of essential furniture and décor and reduce any mess you can.

This is another reason why you should give the room a specific purpose so that you only have the relevant and important things in the space.  If you’re treating the room as a TV room, for example, all you really need is a sofa and some throw cushions, a TV, and maybe a small table.

So, if you have a small room in your house that you’re not making the most of, try out some of the things we’ve mentioned and create your very own cozy, comfortable, and functional space. You’d be surprised to find just how great a small room can feel when it is being used to its full potential.
